Anna is passionate about the mountain environment and mountain sports.
Anna worked for many years as a tailor-made travel consultant for Trailfinders but her love of hiking, skiing and mountain biking drew her away from the UK. She has subsequently qualified as an International Mountain Leader and has led groups hiking in Austria and France and run a chalet company for both mountain bikers and skiers.
She loves being to be able to inspire and encourage others to get out into the mountains, experience and learn about the wonders of the natural environment on our doorstep, and create lifelong memories.
Katie is ever-smiling and has an infectious passion for the beauty and the wildlife of her local mountains. She’s a strong advocate for getting outdoors more, breathing in mountain air, and noticing the natural wonders around us.
Katie has been an adventurer for 20 years, having personally completed over 30,000km of unsupported human powered expeditions, including a number of world firsts, from the Sahara to the Himalayas, the Andes to the Arctic.
Katie is a fully qualified International Mountain Leader snowshoe and hiking guide, with the skills and expertise to make sure that you have a fabulous time in the mountains.
Originally from Devon, England, Katie moved to Courchevel 12 years ago and has never looked back. When not guiding, Katie is an avid cyclist, competing around the world in unsupported Ultra-Distance bike races, both on-road and off-road.
Katie says “It’s a tremendous privilege to be able to lead clients through some of the world’s most beautiful places.”
Snowshoeing is simply winter walking. The snowshoes will prevent you sinking into deep snow making it less strenuous. You will also have poles to help with balance. If you are nervous, or worried about your fitness, then be rest assured we will go at your pace. We will cater exactly to your needs, and will take plenty of mini brakes to admire the views and learn about the surrounding area.
Yes, we will supply you with fully adjustable snowshoes and fit them for you. We will also supply you with a pair of walking poles. Please note that you need to come in good walking boots or laced up snow boots. (Trainers are not suitable as the snowshoes fasten around your ankle, and you are likely to get very cold and wet feet. Moon boots are also not suitable, as they are too wide for the snowshoes).
Our snowshoeing hikes are private bespoke trips, so they are all organised around you. Our guides can take a group of 1 – 8 persons on a half-day experience, and 1 – 6 persons on a full-day experience.
If your party is bigger than this then we can organise a second guide for you.
This does depend a little on the exact trip, so we will give you a more detailed kit list upon booking.
The minimum you will require is:
- Good walking boots or laced up snow boots. (Trainers are not suitable as the snowshoes fasten around your ankle, and you are likely to get very cold and wet feet. Moon boots are also not suitable as they are too wide for the snowshoes)
- Waterproof jacket and plenty of warm and wicking layers. (You can be hot one minute and cold the next so we need to put layers on and off accordingly)
- Warm trousers (like ski pants)
- Gloves, hat, sunglasses
- A small rucksack to carry some water an a spare layer
- Water and snacks
- Camera or phone for taking some lovely pictures
Please check that your normal travel insurance policy covers you for a snow shoe trip.
Please advise us at the time of booking incase we need to adjust the planned route to make it more appropriate for you. Please make sure you pack any medication you may need during your trip.
If the weather is too bad or avalanche risk too high, we will contact you as soon as possible to arrange another day or a full refund.
